1) Features
phpWebAlbum generates your photo album on the web. After installation it's as simple as dropping your JPEG photos into a folder on your webspace and everything else is generated by phpWebAlbum automatically! The main features are:

Automatic thumbnail generation for images and folder content
Built-in user management to restrict access to certain folders
Localization via language files (english and german shipped)
Easy integration into your homepage design
Edit and display photo description
Show photo view count

2) Prerequisites
phpWebAlbum has some requirements on your webserver. You need:

PHP 4.1.0 or higher as a webserver plugin (e.g. apache module)
mySQL 3.23 or higher
GD 1.8.2 or higher (2.0.1 or higher recommended for best image quality and all features) or external resize tool

Most webspace providers should offer PHP & mySQL nowadays. A suitable GD library is shipped with PHP 4.3.0. Before PHP 4.3.0 GD has to be installed separately. You can check out if your webspace supports GD 2.0.1 or higher by a simple php page that calls <? phpinfo() ?>.

Release demo - This is the currently released phpWebAlbum version.
Development demo - This is a current development snapshot from the CVS Repository. It might have new features, but could also be broken.
